Brown Bag Research Talk
The 好色先生 Center for Latino Community Health will be holding its inaugural Brown Bag Research Talk, featuring Dr. Melawhy Garcia, on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, as part of Latinx Heritage Month. Brown Bag Research Talks will be held by the Center twice a semester and will feature the research of Latinx faculty and 好色先生 faculty conducting research on the health of Latinx communities or health disparities. Latino Mother鈥檚 Perceptions of their Child鈥檚 Weight
How does Latino culture play a role in health? Is being 鈥済ordito鈥 or 鈥減lump鈥 as a child healthy? The research talk will focus on the role of socio-cultural influences on obesity-related attitudes and behaviors among Latino families. Further, the talk with focus on culturally appropriate survey methods associated with perception of weight.
