Jake Wilson

Jake Wilson, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Sociology at California State University, Long Beach.  

Professor Wilson's research explores the ways racism and labor exploitation intersect. His research examines workers鈥 movements, unions, workers鈥 rights, the impact of surveillance and automation on work and labor, and the degradation of working conditions especially within the global logistics industry (i.e. ports, warehouses, trucks, shipping) around the world. His current research examines the impact of e-commerce on work, labor, and unions in warehousing, parcel delivery, and shipping. 

Professor Wilson has written or co-written several books including:

Professor Wilson holds a Ph.D., and master鈥檚 in sociology from the University of California, Riverside. He earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree (magna cum laude) in conservation and resource studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
