ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú’s diverse and active campus life reflects its student body. With restaurants, student organizations, and hundreds of small and large events, the University offers various programs and services to help students feel engaged and supported throughout their academic careers. 

On-Campus Dining

 

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú has multiple convenience stores on campus that accepts CalFresh. Stop in for pre-packaged sandwiches, soups, snacks, beverages, over-the-counter medication, and school supplies. Food offerings vary by location, but include: sandwiches, salads, fruit, ice cream, sweet and salty snacks, and even milkshakes and smoothies. Convenience Stores also carry necessary items like Blue Books, Scantrons, pens, pencils, and convenience store goods. 

Beach Bucks are accessed through your Beach ID Card and can be used as an alternative form of payment on and off campus. , in person at the ID Card Services, or at one of our Beach Bucks Deposit machines located around campus.

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students have access to two food courts—one in the University Dining Plaza and another in the â€”and restaurants: the Nugget Bar & Grill, and the Outpost Grill. Hours of operation vary by establishment.

 

The provides access to ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students to gain lifelong learning on how to prepare nutritional meals for their overall wellbeing. The kitchen will focus on educational programing and will utilize pantry staples to ensure accessibility for all students to experience culturally inclusive meals.

The operates as the official campus food pantry and is open to currently enrolled ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students. The pantry provides non-perishable food items for students in need, and is located on the first floor of the University Student Union (USU), USU-116. Enter using the outside entrance to the left of the USU Games Center.

Getting Around

Parking and Transportation Services provides quality, convenient parking options at reasonable prices, and promotes the use of alternative modes of transportation via the sustainable transportation programs. Pro tip: On weeknights after 5pm and on weekends, students with permitted cars can park in employee-designated parking lots (yellow-colored)!

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú provides lactation rooms throughout campus that are both accessible and available to students and the public. There are also numerous baby changing stations listed as well.

The university has partnered with Long Beach Transit to offer competitively priced U-PASS TAP Card Program, which can be used on all Long Beach Transit buses to eligible students, faculty and staff.

All-gender restrooms on campus are located in multiple buildings on campus. See the full listing of locations along with a campus map of All Gender Restrooms (opens in new tab).

Additionally, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú offers free menstrual products in the Health Center, the University Student Union restrooms and three locations amongst .  Students’ BEACH ID Cards are preloaded with $20 in funds which automatically renew each month.

 


 

The  is the primary student recruitment and guest relations office for ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú. 

  • The one-hour Family/Individual walking tour (that takes place in a group setting) provides a general overview of academic programs, student support services, campus life and showcases campus facilities.
  • You may visit the campus and bring up to 4 guests, for a total of 5 individuals per registration
  • Registration is required for all guided tours. No Exceptions will be made.

Housing

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú's University Housing has 3 residential colleges: Beachside, Hillside & Parkside. All rooms are approximately 15 x 11 feet and furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, chair, wastebasket, closet & mirror, and a microfridge. Residents must provide their own Bed Sets (blankets, sheets [twin extra long], pillowcases, bedspreads, towels, & study lamps).

For those looking for off-campus housing, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú does not provide nor manage alternative/outside housing alternatives. There are many resources available for finding off-campus housing. Here are a few options you may want to consider:

  1. Online listing sites: These sites, such as Craigslist and Zillow, allow you to search for available rentals in your area. You can use filters to narrow down your search based on location, price, number of bedrooms, and other factors.
  2. Social media: You can use social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to connect with people in your community who may be looking for roommates or have rental properties available.

We do not manage off-campus resources. It's important to be careful when searching for off-campus housing, as there are many scams out there. .

Rent College Pads (ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Marketplace)

 provides searches for listings, roommates, subleases, and other resources for off-campus housing near the University and allows you to connect with other ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students as potential roommates.

We do not have a way to verify the properties. However, Rent College Pads requires landlords to pay a listing service and confirmed ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students can access the Roommate Connect feature.

Facebook Groups

Students have been successful using these Facebook pages to find roommates, sublets, and apartment leases off-campus. 

Athletics and Sports

 

Campus  thrive at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú.  Tickets to games are free for students and can obtain up to three more tickets for friends and families for $5 to games. 

With a wide variety of Club Sports & Recreation organizations at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú there is something for nearly everyone on campus - and no experience is necessary. Many of the activities through Club Sports & Recreation give students the chance to compete on a collegiate level, traveling locally, regionally and nationally for competition.

Recreational organizations provide opportunities for participants to learn new skills and recreate with others both on and off campus. Have interest in Ski & Snowboard, Surfing or Sailing but you've never tried it? No problem! Find out more about the activities available through Club Sports.

Intramural Sports offers opportunities to participate in on a recreational level. Leagues and tournaments are available in a wide variety of indoor/outdoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, softball, and soccer. See more at

The home of Long Beach State basketball and volleyball for over 20 years,  has become a nationally recognized venue for the University and the city of Long Beach. 

The structure's distinctive cobalt blue exterior has permanently altered the city's skyline. Nearly 200,000 visitors pass through the Walter Pyramid's entrances annually.

Art and Culture

Through practical experience in performance, the  educates and inspires students for rewarding careers as artists, teachers, and scholars. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Ticket revenue for BCCM events fully supports student learning and scholarships.

The  engages ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú and the greater community through artistic, educational, and cultural experiences that enrich lives, promote lifelong learning in and through the performing arts, and serve as a gateway between the university and the greater community.

Designed specifically for dance instruction and production, the Dance Center  is located on the north side of the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú campus and includes seven large studios; an instructional classroom; a state-of-the-art dance clinic; a Pilates training facility; a computer and video lab; a large costume design shop; a sound production studio; and the intimate Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater.

Founded as an educational resource for the campus and community, the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden advances the University's ongoing interest in international education and student engagement. The Garden is open to the public and free for ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú students, faculty, and staff.

The University Art Museum (UAM) creates exhibition and education programs for the interpretation and appreciation of contemporary and modern art and culture. Admission to the UAM is free for all, check out the Gallery Hours

 

Campus Shops and Services

All students, faculty, and staff are required to have a ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Beach ID as it is your official form of identification on campus.

With your Beach ID Card, you have access to an array of services and privileges on campus, including the use of library services, meal plans, computer lab access, copier and print services, access to school entertainment, sporting events, and more.

Beach Bucks are accessed through your Beach ID Card and can be used as an alternative form of payment on and off campus. , in person at the ID Card Services, or at one of our Beach Bucks Deposit machines located around campus.

The  is a convenient, on-campus stop for school and course supplies, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú apparel, computers, other tech devices, and, of course, books.

The Beach on 2nd Street is conveniently located on Second Street in Belmont Shore, a few miles away from campus.  This fantastic location allows for ample parking and is easily accessible for community members, alumni, and family.  The Beach on 2nd Street carries all of our top selling ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú gear along with general Long Beach apparel and accessory items.

The University Art Store has a friendly and knowledgeable staff that can help students find the art supplies they need. The Art Store also features a mini gallery of student art which is available for purchase, as well as some grab-and-go food items.

 

ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú is committed to the academic and personal success of all students including those who are pregnant and parenting. Review the various support services designed to help pregnant and parenting students succeed and thrive at the Beach including the Family Friendly Study Area, Events and Workshops, childcare, and Advocacy and Support

The Student ID Card doubles as Beach Bucks, and students can put money on their Beach ID Card to use at campus eateries, computer labs, and retail stores. Students can add value to their Beach ID Card by visiting the University Bookstore, depositing on a secure online portal, or through the Blackboard Transact Mobile eAccounts from your mobile app store. 

LBS Financial Credit Union is conveniently located on the 2nd floor of the 49er Shops Bookstore! LBS Financial has been serving the Long Beach State community (faculty, staff, and students) for decades, offering affordable financial services. 

is a full-service banking experience, on the second floor of the University Student Union.  The Southland Credit Union Branch at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú provides ATM access, deposits, withdrawals, new account opening, loan origination, instant issue debit and credit cards, digital banking services, remote deposit and an automated personal teller machine

The  at ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú is designated by the U.S. Department of State to accept passport applications. Passport processing is completed by the U.S. Department of State. Services include acceptance of Application for U.S. Passport (form DS-11) and passport photographs. The Office is located next to the Career Development Center in Brotman Hall.

 

Student Organizations

 

 is a nonprofit association organized under the university umbrella and run for students, by students. Services include the University Student Union, the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center, the Recycling Center, and the Student Recreation & Wellness Center. ASI also funds various scholarships; campus events and programs; and a student-run media division.

Overseen by the Student Life and Development Office, student organizations offer students opportunities to become active in the campus community by meeting new people, gaining leadership experience, and developing educational and extracurricular interests.

 

Campus Safety

The ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Night Escort Program is a free safety service conducted by our campus Community Service Officers (CSOs).  You may request a CSO escortby calling the University Police non-emergency line at 562.985.4101 (extension 5-4101 from a campus phone). If necessary, you may also request an escort by using one of the "Blue Light" emergency telephones located throughout campus.

Please be advised that there may be a short wait time for a CSO or a police officer to arrive at your location. Our campus community is very safe, but it is wise to wait and use the escort service.

The ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Police Department strives to maintain the highest standards of excellence by developing personnel and utilizing new technologies to cultivate a safe learning and work environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Part of the Office of Equity and Diversity, the Title IX Office provides resources for survivors of sexual and domestic violence, including the contact information for on-campus police and local branches of national organizations, as well as explanations of what constitutes sexual assault. Title IX protects all people, regardless of their gender or gender identity, from sex discrimination, which includes sexual harassment and misconduct.

 

Sustainability at the Beach

 offers an on-site payout for recyclable beverage containers. The center is located near the Walter Pyramid Parking Structure.

°ä³§±«³¢µþ’s&²Ô²ú²õ±è;sustainability initiative creates opportunities for students to become leaders in both University and global sustainability through paid, internship, and volunteer opportunities.

The ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Sustainable Transportation Program promotes alternative methods of transportation to balance environmental concerns with the increasing demand for parking on a growing campus community.
