Dear College of Education Students,
The following message was sent from the university earlier this afternoon:
鈥淥ut of an abundance of caution, the university is modifying its operations on Monday due to severe weather. On-campus, in-person classes may shift to online instruction or alternative assignments, where possible. Faculty and academic support staff: please communicate specific details about classes to your students. Students: please consult Canvas or contact your instructors for more information about classes. University employees: please consult with your direct supervisors regarding any planned transition to online work, where possible. Necessary updates in the days to come will be posted on the university鈥檚 emergency information page.鈥
In the College of Education, we are asking faculty to hold all courses via Alternative Modes of Instruction. Students in clinical practice (observation, fieldwork, student teaching, practicum, etc.) should contact their sites for their specific information. We have asked faculty to contact their students as soon as possible. Please check your email regularly and your course Canvas sites for up-to-date instructions and information. You may also contact your faculty member directly.
All College of Education offices and staff will be open virtually. To reach advisors please visit the Teacher Preparation Advising Center, Liberal Studies Department or Graduate Studies Office, or the Office of Clinical Practice websites or write them at the appropriate email address:
- Teacher Preparation Advising Center (TPAC): ced-tpac@csulb.edu
- Liberal Studies Department: ced-LibST@csulb.edu

Students in clinical practice (observation, fieldwork, student teaching, practicum, etc.) should contact their sites for their specific information. Students who take classes in other colleges should contact their faculty directly or visit their CANVAS sites for instructions. At this time, all courses in the Colleges of Liberal Arts, the Natural Sciences and Math, Business and Engineering will be held via Alternative Modes of Instruction.
I expect that there will be an announcement tomorrow afternoon about plans for Tuesday. At any time the most current information will be available on the emergency information page.
Take care, stay dry and be safe,
