The MS in Educational Technology & Media Leadership is offered in 100% online format. 

The program offers foundational knowledge and practical skills for individuals aiming to advance their careers in settings that utilize digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, in education. It emphasizes the use of these technologies for the benefit of diverse populations. The coursework covers design and technical concepts, along with topics related to leadership, social impacts, and equity. The program prepares graduates for leadership roles in educational institutions and other agencies; it provides training in instructional design, multimedia development and management, and e-learning, and it builds a foundation for individuals planning to pursue doctoral degrees. Our students include:

The M.S. program is structured to offer a variety of attractive and flexible features:

  • Courses are offered online, with synchronous and asynchronous components.
  • Course schedule is designed to accommodate working professionals, with online courses offered weekday evenings and Saturdays.
  • Program includes a capstone project with multiple options including comprehensive exam, project, or thesis.
  • Electives with many options may be chosen in consultation with advisor.

  • Courses are offered 100% online with synchronous and asynchronous formats: Synchronous course meetings offer students invaluable opportunities for real-time interaction with one another and program faculty. Asynchronous activities offer flexibility and afford students direct experience with ways of teaching and learning with these modalities.
  • Experienced and distinguished faculty: The Educational Technology and Media Leadership program features 3 full-time tenured faculty members and 4 part-time faculty, with a combined teaching experience of over 100 years at 好色先生. Together, they bring a wealth of leadership experience in both research and practical applications within the field.
  • A strong network of students and alumni: Students entering the program join a community of current students and graduates for ongoing learning.
  • School librarianship option: Information technologies are increasingly important for K-12 school librarians. Our MS program is unique in the State of California with its option for students to concurrently obtain a Teacher Librarian Services Credential with a particularly strong emphasis on technology, including the coursework for a Special Class Authorization in Information and Digital Literacies.
  • Option for field experience: Students in the MS in Educational Technology and Media Leadership have the option to gain practical experience in the field via ETEC 580. Previous students have engaged in field experience in K-12 and higher education settings related to topics such as integrating technology into teaching, technology consulting and support, assistive technology, and K-12 librarianship. Graduates of the program:

  • Apply knowledge of multicultural, ethical and legal issues pertaining to using ICT with the global community.
  • Synthesize leadership principles within the practice of information and educational technology.
  • Apply instructional design principles to locate, evaluate and develop educational materials.
  • Integrate theoretical perspectives to review, interpret, and apply research in learning technology.
