CED Alumna Dr. Fawzia Reza Presents Study at Oxford University on Female Student Enrollment and Retention in Pakistani Schools
CED alumna Fawzia Reza, Ed.D., presented a study at the Oxford Roundtable Symposium at Harris Manchester College, Oxford University examining the challenges of enrolling and retaining girls in Pakistani schools. The study presented at Oxford grew from additional insights obtained from a previous qualitative study conducted with CED faculty Dr. Jyotsna Pattnaik, and presented at American Education Research Association (AERA) conference in 2017. Dr. Reza鈥檚 presentation at Oxford, 鈥淚s Education a Basic Right for All? A Glimpse into the Successes and Challenges in Enrolling a Marginalized Population鈥 focused on systemic barriers and challenges against Pakistani girls gathered from school administrators and teachers in Pakistan. In addition to presenting these issues, Dr. Reza鈥檚 research also presented recommendations and examples of schools that have succeeded in increasing female enrollment despite the challenges.
