Matthew Mendez Garcia
Matthew Mendez Garcia is a native Californian who holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Southern California. He received his Ph.D. in 2015, and is now an Assistant Professor at California State University, Long Beach. Professor Mendez studies American politics, with a focus on representation, legislative behavior, race and ethnicity, political behavior, intersectionality, and immigration. In 2016, he received the award for Best Dissertation from the American Political Science Association鈥檚 Organized Section on Race, Ethnicity, and Politics. His most recent publication, co-authored, with Christian Grose, is 鈥淒oubling Down: Inequality in Responsiveness and the Policy Preferences of Elected Officials,鈥 which was featured in Legislative Studies Quarterly.
