the Dance Center Clinic


The Dance Clinic is a specialized facility dedicated to injury prevention, rehabilitation, and overall wellness for dancers. The Dance Clinic is open to ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Dance majors and minors only.. It is designed to support dance majors and minors throughout their rigorous training by providing evidence-based care that helps prevent overuse injuries, manage acute injuries, and optimize performance.

Head Athletic Trainer John Siegel offers a comprehensive approach to dancer health with the support of Master of Athletic Training student interns. There is also an opportunity for undergraduate dance majors to apply to become Student Ambassadors and gain valuable experience assisting with overall clinic function. 

Services provided to dance majors and minors:

  • Injury Prevention & Conditioning – Strength training, flexibility work, and neuromuscular control exercises to help reduce the risk of common dance-related injuries.
  • Acute Injury Evaluation & Care – Immediate assessment and management of sprains, strains, fractures, and other dance-related injuries to ensure proper healing.
  • Rehabilitation & Recovery – Guided therapeutic interventions to restore function and safely return to dance after injury.
  • Emergency Care – On-the-spot treatment for injuries that occur during rehearsals and performances, including first aid, wound care, and concussion management.

The Dance Clinic is equipped with tools to support these services, including:

  • One Balanced Body Pilates Reformer
  • Two Cadillac Reformers
  • Various ellipticals
  • Free weights & machine weights
  • Foam rollers & TheraBands
  • Ice baths for legs & full-body

Dance majors and minors can schedule appointments with John Siegel for:

  • Instruction on the proper use of Dance Clinic equipment
  • Soft tissue release techniques
  • Cupping therapy
  • Personalized exercise & nutrition guidance
  • Taping and wrapping for injuries
  • Referrals to additional university resources, such as Health Services and CAPS

By offering specialized athletic training care, the Dance Clinic helps ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú dancers stay strong, recover effectively, and continue performing at their highest level.
