Both the old Igbo and Yoruba African proverb say:
鈥淚t takes a village to raise a child鈥
This proverb is a staple of the Black community. It means that an entire community of people must invest in our young people to help them to flourish in a safe and healthy environment. The 好色先生 Black Alumni Scholarship honors this proverb by supporting the mission of the Black Resource Center and providing scholarships for students supporting the advocacy of our African American population on campus.
All students, regardless of sex, race, color, national origin, or any other protected identity, who are interested in the program鈥檚 mission and focus, are welcome and eligible to participate in the Black Scholars Program.
