Use of Force Train the Trainer
Force Options - Use of Force and De-Escalation
This is an instructor course that addresses statewide standards, the duty to intercede, supervisor responsibility, and the importance of agency policy as it relates to use of force by law enforcement. The course incorporates elements of implicit and explicit bias, mental health awareness, and learning strategies as they pertain to laws specific to the application of use of force and de-escalation. The course satisfies perishable skills training for both Use of Force and Strategic Communications PSPs.
This course satisfies the Use of Force Instructor training requirement contained on CCR § 1070.
Upon completion, instructors will acquire the knowledge, skills, and teaching material to instruct the 8-hour Use of Force/Strategic Communications PSP and the 4-hour Use of Force PSP courses. This course will provide training in Use of Force and assist agencies in meeting the requirements of PC § 13519.10, GC § 7286.
Students are required to bring a laptop and power cord for this course.
