* Only some Monday afternoons will be on campus. 80 hours must be spent in an agency.

Social Work students study abroad in Germany

Junior Spring Semester Abroad in Hamburg, Germany

The 鈥淛unior Spring Semester Abroad鈥 program allows 好色先生 social work undergraduate students to gain an international experience by studying for a semester in Hamburg, Germany but without extending time to graduation. Classes are in English (and give an insight into the expertise of German and European social work, transferring as credit for the 好色先生 social work program. The program also includes the Spring semester compulsory 80-hour practicum experience with local organizations.

Since 2008, California State University, Long Beach has been partnered with Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany. With its 1.8 million inhabitants, Hamburg is Germany's second-largest city after Berlin and an international port. Living and studying in Hamburg provides students with a wide range of insights into different cultures and lifestyles as well as social issues and their solutions in a modern urban community. Its undergraduate programs prepare students for a diverse range of social occupations and work in childhood education. They reflect the complexity of social work in a modern society.

  • Information meetings are offered in the fall and spring semesters.
  • For on-campus Information Meetings, no RSVP is required to attend.  
  • This is an opportunity to learn more about the program and the application process, ask questions, meet others who are interested in the social work field and assess the educational opportunities provided by the BASW program at 好色先生.
